San Diego International Airport (SAN) is the most popular airport for Temecula Valley travelers — and for good reason. It's the closest major airport to wine country, the drive down I-15 is straightforward, and fares are often lower than flying out of LAX. Here's everything you need to know about getting there from Temecula, Murrieta, Menifee and the surrounding valley.
How long is the drive from Temecula to SAN?
In normal traffic, plan on about an hour to an hour and fifteen minutes from most Temecula Valley addresses to the SAN terminals. Morning departures heading south are usually smooth; the return trip north in afternoon rush hour can run longer. We build that buffer into your pickup time so you arrive with time to spare — not sprinting to the gate.
Shared shuttle vs. private van
Our shared shuttle is the lowest fare: you ride with a few other travelers on a scheduled departure, with pickup at a Temecula park-and-ride or an optional home pickup. It's the best value for solo travelers and couples.
A private van is just your group, on your schedule. Sedans and SUVs work for two or three passengers; passenger vans handle groups up to fourteen with full luggage. For families with car seats, groups with lots of bags, or anyone on a tight connection, private is the way to go.
When should you leave Temecula for a flight?
You choose your pickup time when you book, and it's shown in My Trips. Not sure what time to pick? Call or text us at (951) 294-5291 and we'll help you choose.
- Domestic flights: arrive at SAN 2 hours before departure — we typically pick up 3 to 3.5 hours before your flight.
- International flights: arrive 3 hours before — pickup is usually 4 to 4.5 hours ahead.
- Early morning flights (before 7 AM): early-morning pickups are available by reservation — book as early as you can.
Coming home: we track your flight
For airport pickups, give us your airline and flight number when you book. We monitor the flight on travel day — if it's delayed or lands early, your driver's timing adjusts automatically. You land, grab your bags, and your ride is waiting curbside. Upfront, all-in prices — no surprise fees
What it costs
Shared shuttle fares to SAN are per person and the most affordable way to go. Private rides are priced per vehicle, so groups often find a private van costs less per person than they expected.
